Listen in order to serve.
This past Friday, I got to attend TEDxSacramento, where "Sacramento's leading thinkers and doers [were] asked to give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes or less centered around the topic of change."
The theme was "This Changes Everything," and was a celebration of "those daring enough to dream, to reimagine the way things are as the way they can and should be, and whose ideas promise to disrupt the status-quo and forever change the way we see things."
The first speaker was Dr. Ernesto Sirolli, researcher, author and founder of the Sirolli Institute. He is a leading authority on sustainable economic development – particularly through channeling the intelligence and passion of the local people to drive successful community change.
Watch his previous TED Talk from 2012, "Want to help someone? Shut up and listen!"
Were you at TEDxSacramento? Did you watch Dr. Sirolli's 2012 talk? What's your experience with listening in order to work with others?
